The ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag at Galle Face and the Ceremonial Guard at the President's House is a deeply symbolic act that reflects the nation's sovereignty, unity, and pride. This solemn duty is carried out daily, with the flag being raised at 6:00 am and lowered at 6:00 pm. The responsibility for this revered task is shared among the branches of Sri Lanka's armed forces on a rotational basis throughout the year, ensuring the participation of different military facets in these national rituals.

From January to March, the Sri Lanka Navy takes charge of these duties. Following the Navy's tenure, from April to June, the Sri Lanka Air Force assumes this responsibility. Lastly, from July to December, the Sri Lanka Army takes over these duties for the longest period of six months.

This rotational system ensures that all branches of the armed forces are directly involved in the symbolic acts of raising and lowering the national flag, representing the unity and combined strength of the nation's military. It is a testament to the collaborative spirit and mutual respect among the different military branches, each bringing its unique traditions and disciplines to these important national duties.

The photographs featured here capture the solemnity and beauty of this daily ritual, taken against the picturesque backdrop of Galle Face Green. This venue is not only a historic esplanade but also serves as a gathering place for both locals and tourists, making it an ideal spot to witness this expression of national pride.
